The history of the Primitive Church has as its most privileged source the Gospel According to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Whence did Luke gather all pertinent data? Is it trustworthy? Is it still relevant in the present world? Voices can be heard underrating its contents as unacceptable to modern mentality (as in the case of miracles and the resurrection of Christ) and consigning it to the old ages as a non essential part of core message. But first century Christians held the doctrine found there as essential to their beliefs. The proclamation of a resurrected Jesus as Messiah was a vital proclamation of the Christian faith.
